Sisters take over Dance Center of La Grange, a studio where they’ve studied and taught for two decades – Chicago Tribune

Dana Fry and her younger sister, Brittany Smith, started dancing when they were little girls in Berwyn.

“I was probably about five years old,” Dana said of her first memories of dance.

Wednesday they took ownership of the Dance Center of La Grange, the studio serving area children for the last quarter century and the place where they studied and danced for two decades.

The Dance Center will celebrate its 26th anniversary at the beginning of the year, and has a reputation for artistic development.

Indeed, the studio’s motto, showcased on its front window at 539 S. La Grange Rd., is “Where Dance is an Art … Not a Competition.”

The Dance Center offers classes for all ages, toddlers through adults, and stage some performances during the year and annual end-of-the-year June Recital. Areas of concentration are Ballet, Jazz, Jazz/Tap, and Jazz/Hip…
