LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A fairytale following a nightmare.
That’s exactly what Beck Center for the Arts’ presents with a dance education production of the ballet “Cinderella” appearing weekends March 25 through April 2 in Music and Creative Arts Therapy Building’s Oatey Stage.
“This is a ballet we started in 2020,” said Associate Director of Dance Education Melanie Szucs, who is choreographing the ballet. “We were in the final stages of rehearsal — three weeks out of opening day — when it was cancelled due to the shutdown.
“As a matter of fact, when they told us this was our last day of class I quickly called all of the kids who were available and told them to come to Beck Center to do the ballet. I probably got about 60 to 70 percent of it put on video.”
Even though Szucs couldn’t stomach watching the performance during the pandemic, she’s eager to finally return to the popular production.
